TRADIGITAL AUTOGRAPHS

Not every photograph I make is a landscape. The Tradigital AutoGraphs series grew out of decades of driving western back roads and stopping for hand-painted signs, roadside warnings, and small-town messages that made me laugh out loud. These signs were never intended as art, yet they carry a directness and humor that fine art sometimes lacks.

The original negatives date from the 1970s through the early 2000s. In 2015 I selected the strongest images and produced a new edition of pigment prints, flush mounted to 3 mm Dibond. Each Tradigital AutoGraph is a limited edition of 10. They are signed and numbered, and they sit comfortably alongside my landscape work as a record of American vernacular culture.
