To photograph my wife Sharon was a special privilege. She was blessed with a remarkable figure - not that of a fashion model but more to my taste, that of a fine athlete.

I was an athlete as well, so we both understood that the human body is a wonderful creation, one that few people truly appreciate or celebrate.

In concert with that athleticism was her attitude about her body. Because Sharon was strong and fit, and very attractive, she had no modesty when it came to being without her clothes.

She was a willing model.

On top of all that, Sharon and I were pretty unique as a couple. We were 24–7 which meant that we were best friends, lovers, partners, you name it! We were almost inseparable.

So when you piece together all of those attributes and throw in that we spent roughly 60 days a year as nomads in our camper van traveling the American West, then these photographs easily came to fruition. They were not a “project”, but rather a joyful byproduct of 40+ years of living together.
